Heat oil in a wok and add pepper corns and let it splutter. Add other spices and roast for two minutes. Add chopped (11/2)onions, ginger, garlic and coconut and saute well. Switch off the flame and let it cool. Blend well in a mixer and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add chopped onion (1/2) and saute well for a minute. Add chopped tomatoes and saute well till its mushy. Add blended mixture, mutton, turmeric powder and salt to taste and mix well with 3 cups of water and cook for 15 minutes.
When steam settles down, remove the lid and cook for few minutes and garnish it with curry leaves. Chettinad Mutton Gravy is ready to serve with hot rice or rotis.
